My work focuses on Internet censorship and network security. Over half of the world lives in a country that censors the Internet for political, economic, or religious reasons, leading to slowed innovation, depressed social and economic mobility, and less visibility into human rights violations. My research involves supporting users in getting around this censorship, by building and improving circumvention tools that evade firewalls, and by investigating new and emerging censorship trends and technologies employed by repressive governments.
