research overview

  • My work brings together the study of 17th- and 18th-century musical practices, particularly as they pertain to instrumental music, and the 20th- and 21st-century revivals of historical performance. I examine the early music movement as a modern renaissance, inspired by 17th- and 18th- century antecedents and shaped by 20th- and 21st-century political and aesthetic values. As such, my research is multidisciplinary and transhistorical and relies on methodologies and sources that are relatively new to both fields.
