Professor Linden’s research focuses on development of novel water treatment and waste management technologies for environmental remediation and sustainable WASH Services. His group has a history of ultraviolet (UV) light-based research including; efficacy of UV disinfection for inactivation of pathogens; and the use of UV and advanced oxidation for the degradation of organic and other emerging contaminants in water and wastewater. Current projects include: evaluating novel UV advanced oxidation processes in both water and wastewater for conventional and emerging chemical pollutants; studying the fundamental basis for and optimization of UV light inactivation of viruses; evaluating UV-LEDs for water treatment in small systems; investigating appropriate technologies for water and wastewater treatment in developing communities; Sustainability of WASH Services in developing communities.
