Stefanie Mollborn's research concentrates on mechanisms and theoretical explanations underlying demographic trends. Her first strand of multimethod research focuses on childbearing and its consequences for young people and their children, including teen parents and sexual minorities. The second strand analyzes inequalities in early childhood development and health. Mollborn's newest funded project investigates health lifestyles and technology use among young people from birth through the transition to adulthood.
