My research examines how education evolved in the U.S.-Mexico borderlands during the nineteenth and early twentieth-centuries. I am particularly interested in how Mexican Americans experienced education in northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. Within this context, my research emphasizes how the struggle for land rights motivated educational development and how education fueled the land rights struggle.
