Richard O’Neill’s performance activities primarily as violist of the Takacs Quartet, that performs worldwide and records for Hyperion Records. In addition, Richard performs solo engagements, both here and abroad. This season he celebrated his twentieth anniversary of solo concerts in Korea with the Korean debut of the Christopher Theofanidis Viola Concerto, with the Sejong Soloists and conductor David Chan at Seoul Arts Center. He also collaborated with violinist Joshua Bell, cellist Steven Isserlis and pianist Jeremy Denk on a project featuring the composer Gabriel Faure. He presented masterclasses at the Eastman School, Oberlin Conservatory and the Guildhall School of Music. He continues as viola faculty at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, as well as returning to his festival, Music on the Strait, in Port Angeles WA. He was invited to make several online viola tutorials for TONEBASE.
