Dr. Simkin is currently researching plant diversity along large gradients of atmospheric nitrogen deposition as part of a national synthesis funded by the USGS Powell Center and the Environmental Protection Agency. Additional interests include wetland plant diversity as influenced by sulfide biogeochemistry, landscape patterns of atmospheric deposition, and impacts of fire and soil disturbance on plant community composition.
