research overview

  • Associate Professor Steve Lamos studies the history and evolution of writing instruction within the U.S. academy. His first book, _Interests and Opportunities: Race, Racism, and University Writing Instruction in the Post-Civil Rights Era_ (Pittsburgh UP, 2011), analyzed issues of race and racism within the history of “basic writing” instruction. His current book project examines issues of rhythm and resonance as they relate to the embodied nexus of written and musical composition.
